Platelet-Rich Plasma
During the treatment, a small amount of whole blood is taken from the arm. The blood is separated in a centrifuge, or a device that rapidly spins the blood, separating it by its density. Then we extract the PRP and prepare it for injection. There are many uses for PRP in rejuvenation. Often, it is injected directly into areas of need, such as the hollows or dark areas under the eyes. In other cases, it is applied to the surface of the skin and deposited into the superficial layers of the skin using a microneedling device. It is also used in micro-channeling devices like Aquagold and for hair restoration.
The process for rejuvenation starts immediately but develops gradually over weeks to months. We often perform a series of treatments over many months to years. This treatment is perfect for those who want to rejuvenate their skin but are not ready to undergo more invasive treatments or injectables.
Tip: PRP is one of the most underappreciated treatments and provides excellent prevention! If we could get every single one of our patients to do one or two of these treatments every year, they would avoid the need to do more invasive treatments later in life.

PRP is injected with tiny needles, meaning swelling and bruising are possible. Swelling is common because we are injecting a larger volume of PRP into the areas of concern. Swelling may last a few days but generally resolves quickly. Bruising is generally subtle, but there is always a chance for concealer-required bruises that last up to 1 week.
